Brand History

The Acura Story

Acura was launched by Honda in 1986 as the first luxury division from a Japanese automaker, beating Lexus and Infiniti to the North American market. Early models such as the Legend and Integra earned a reputation for refinement and reliability, and the mid-engined NSX of 1990 showed a Japanese brand could build an everyday-usable supercar. The brand later shifted toward crossovers while keeping a performance edge through its Type S models.
