01

Origins

The ZDX name has been used twice, for vehicles with nothing in common.

Design and engineering

The first, from 2009, was a five-door coupe SUV with a heavily raked roofline, hidden rear door handles and a cabin that traded rear headroom and boot space for a striking profile. It was styled in Acura's Californian studio and priced above the MDX it was based on. It sold very poorly and ended in 2013.

In production

The second appeared in 2024 and was an electric mid-size SUV built on General Motors' Ultium platform under a joint arrangement with Honda, assembled in North America, with a conventional five-door body and a Type S version at the top of the range. It was always a stopgap while Honda's own electric architecture was finished, and it lasted only into 2025.
