Brand History
The Alpine Story
Alpine was founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, a Renault dealer from Dieppe who built lightweight sports cars on Renault mechanicals. The rear-engined A110 Berlinette became a rally icon, helping Alpine win the first World Rally Championship for manufacturers in 1973, the same year Renault took control of the company; Alpine also won the 1978 Le Mans 24 Hours. Production lapsed in 1995 before Renault revived the brand in 2017 with a new mid-engined A110.
