Brand History

The BYD Story

Founded in 1995 as a rechargeable-battery maker, BYD ('Build Your Dreams') entered carmaking in 2003 and bet everything on electrification — stopping pure-petrol production entirely in 2022. Powered by its own Blade battery technology and vertical integration, BYD overtook Tesla in total EV+hybrid volume and became China's best-selling brand outright.
