Brand History
The Chery Story
Chery was founded in 1997 in Wuhu, Anhui province, as a local-government-backed venture led by engineer Yin Tongyue, and delivered its first car in 1999. The tiny QQ city car of 2003 made Chery a household name in China, and the company built a reputation for developing its own engines. Chery became China's largest vehicle exporter for two decades running, and has expanded internationally with brands such as Omoda, Jaecoo, Exeed and Jetour.
