01

Origins

Introduced in 2018, the Tiggo 8 sits above the Tiggo 7 as Chery's mid-size crossover, and its main argument is space: three rows of seats at a price closer to two-row rivals. That combination is exactly what growing families in China, Latin America and the Middle East were buying, and the car has been one of Chery's strongest sellers both at home and abroad.

Design and engineering

Successive versions — the Tiggo 8 Plus and Pro — added Chery's turbocharged petrol engines, a substantially better cabin with large screens and soft materials, and plug-in hybrid drivetrains using the company's own system. In several export markets it has been the vehicle that introduced buyers to a Chinese brand as a serious alternative rather than a budget compromise.

In production

Assembly in Brazil, Russia and elsewhere has followed the export success, making the Tiggo 8 one of the more widely built Chinese cars outside China.
