Brand History
The Daimler Story
The Daimler Motor Company was founded in Coventry in 1896, having licensed the rights to Gottlieb Daimler's engine patents for Britain, and is regarded as one of the country's first car manufacturers. It became the traditional supplier of state cars to the British royal family and built stately luxury saloons and limousines, its cars distinguished by a fluted radiator grille. Jaguar acquired Daimler in 1960, after which the name was used mainly on flagship versions of Jaguar saloons.
