Brand History
The Lagonda Story
Lagonda was founded in Staines, England, in 1906 by American-born engineer Wilbur Gunn and became a respected maker of sporting and luxury cars, winning the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1935. W.O. Bentley led its engineering in the late 1930s, and in 1947 David Brown bought Lagonda alongside Aston Martin, uniting the two marques. The name has since been used periodically for luxury saloons, most famously the wedge-shaped Aston Martin Lagonda of 1976 and the limited-run Taraf of the 2010s.
