Brand History

The McLaren Story

New Zealand racer Bruce McLaren founded his racing team in 1963; it became one of Formula 1's most successful constructors. Road cars came from a separate company, McLaren Cars, set up in 1985. Its 1992 McLaren F1 — with its gold-lined engine bay and central driving seat — was the fastest car of the century, and since 2010 McLaren Automotive has built a full range of carbon-tubbed supercars.
