The Weltmeister Story
Weltmeister was the vehicle brand of WM Motor, a Chinese electric vehicle startup founded in 2015 by former Volvo and Geely executive Freeman Shen. The name, German for "world champion," reflected the company's international ambitions, and its EX5 electric SUV was among the earlier Chinese startup EVs to reach volume production. Despite substantial venture funding, the company struggled financially amid intense competition in China's EV market.
