Origins
The Alpha-S of 2021 carried historic cargo: its HI edition was the first production car equipped with Huawei Inside — the full autonomous-driving stack, lidar included, and HarmonyOS cockpit — making the Arcfox saloon the telecom giant's automotive debut vehicle and a landmark in China's intelligence wars. Demonstration videos of urban autonomous navigation seized global attention; the partnership template later perfected with AITO was drafted here. The standard Alpha-S sold modestly; the HI version's significance outran its volumes entirely. As the vehicle where Huawei's automotive era began in earnest, the Alpha-S holds a place in industrial history disproportionate to its sales — the proof-of-concept for the alliance model reshaping the market.
