Origins
Alexander Dennis's Enviro200 MMC of 2014 refreshed the country's most numerous single-decker: the 'Major Model Change' brought a stronger structure, cleaner Euro 6 driveline and a sharper face to the midibus that operators from Cornwall to the Highlands had standardised on. Falkirk and Guildford built them by the thousand for the deregulated market's every niche — school runs, market-day locals, busy urban corridors. The MMC's virtue was institutional: parts commonality, dealer coverage and a driver's seat that half of Britain's PSV licence holders already knew. As the combustion swansong before the electric transition it did its job completely, and its successors' batteries now ride on lessons this generation's fleet mileage taught. Fleet buyers repay that kind of continuity with repeat orders, and did.
