Origins
Arcfox began life in 2017 with the Lite: a two-seat urban runabout wearing customisable exterior screens and pod styling — BAIC's premium-EV brand testing playful waters before its serious products, at prices that made the whimsy an expensive novelty. City range and kei-scale dimensions suited the sharing and second-car niches the era's planners imagined; actual demand proved thin, and the Lite remained a curiosity while the brand retooled around substantial crossovers. Its interest now is archaeological: evidence of the moment Chinese EV brands experimented freely with what electric cars should even be — screens outside, personality first — before the market voted decisively for range, size and screens inside. The market chose rationality; the Lite remains the charming minority report.
