Origins

Announced in 2019, the B2 was Bollinger Motors' attempt to broaden the appeal of the B1 without softening it. It shared the same fundamentals — an aluminium structure, dual motors driving all four wheels, and a two-speed high/low transmission for genuine low-range work — and the same uncompromising, entirely flat-panelled styling. The pass-through load channel running the length of the vehicle was retained, allowing lumber and pipe to be carried inside a mid-size footprint.

Design and engineering

Bollinger opened reservations and quoted a price well above mainstream trucks, betting that commercial and rural buyers would pay for durability and simplicity rather than screens. The bet was never tested. The small Michigan company could not fund tooling and certification, refocused on Class 3 to Class 6 commercial chassis, and was bought by Mullen Automotive in 2022. Production of the B2 is postponed indefinitely, and no customer vehicle was ever delivered.
