Origins
The Nemesis of 2007 evolved Bowler's formula beyond the visibly Defender-based Wildcat: a purpose-built spaceframe under bodywork blending Range Rover Sport cues with competition function, V8 power rising through development toward 300-plus horsepower, and suspension travel engineered for flat-out desert terrain. It contested international cross-country rallying and spawned the EXR road-going derivative, developed with Land Rover's blessing as relations between Belper and Solihull warmed toward eventual acquisition. Hand-built in small series for wealthy privateers, the Nemesis widened Bowler's identity from Defender-modifier to genuine constructor. It marks the middle chapter of a very British story — the specialist so good at abusing a manufacturer's products that the manufacturer ultimately bought the company to learn how.
