The H230 of 2012 refreshed Brilliance's entry saloon and hatch line with contemporary styling and the group's small fours, contesting China's budget segment as domestic competition sharpened dramatically. It sold steadily without distinction while the company's strategic weight shifted conclusively to the BMW joint venture — whose expanding success would ultimately outlive the parent: Brilliance's holding company entered bankruptcy proceedings in the 2020s even as BMW bought control of the venture itself. The H230 thus documents the quiet end of an era: the last generation of self-branded Brilliance passenger cars mattering commercially, before the group's own badge became a footnote to the partnership it had hosted. The badge survives mainly in fleet registries now — an ending nobody in 2012 predicted for BMW's essential partner.
