Brand History
The Brilliance Story
Brilliance Auto was founded in Shenyang, China, in 1992, initially building minibuses under the Jinbei name before launching its own passenger cars. It became internationally significant as BMW's Chinese joint-venture partner from 2003 through BMW Brilliance. Its self-branded cars, including the Zhonghua line, struggled against stronger domestic rivals.

Current Lineup
Brilliance's state-owned parent entered bankruptcy restructuring in 2020, and BMW took a 75 percent controlling stake in the BMW Brilliance joint venture in 2022, leaving the Brilliance brand itself marginal.
