Origins
It started as a show car nobody expected to build. Bob Lutz wanted a modern Cobra, Tom Gale's studio drew it, and Carroll Shelby was brought in to bless the project. The concept shown in 1989 drew such a reaction that Chrysler — a company then better known for minivans and K-cars — decided to put it into production, using a small team that worked outside the normal engineering process.
