Origins

The Sterra ES of 2023 launched Exeed's new-energy sub-line: a sleek electric fastback on Chery's E0X platform — 800-volt architecture, big-battery range claims, lidar-equipped assistance options — competing directly with the domestic EV elite from Xpeng to Zeekr. Range-extended variants followed, hedging the market's propulsion debates. The ES represented Chery's full-force EV entry after years of cautious hybrids: the export giant finally contesting the segment defining China's industrial future. Volumes grew amid the price war's attrition. Strategically, the Sterra line completed Exeed's mission statement — from premium-combustion experiment to the group's spearhead in the only race that now determines Chinese automotive rank. The export champion has entered the home fight that actually decides the future.
