Origins

IC Bus's CE Series, launched in 2000 under Navistar's integration of the AmTran school-bus business, became the yellow bus of the American century's turn: a conventional Type C design pairing International chassis and cowl with integrated body manufacture — the 'IC' — built in Tulsa by the tens of thousands. School districts bought its parts commonality and dealer network; generations of children measured mornings by its arrival. Propane, and later electric, variants tracked the fleet-fuel debates. The CE's ubiquity makes it invisible and essential at once: American public education's largest transportation program rides substantially on this one product line. No vehicle is more American than the one every American remembers waiting for.
