Origins

The Zerouno of 2017 announced Italdesign Automobili Speciali — the storied consultancy's new ultra-limited manufacturing arm — with a five-car series built on Lamborghini Huracán architecture: the 5.2-litre V10 untouched, the body entirely reimagined in carbon with aerodynamic theatrics including a Y-shaped daytime signature and prices from 1.5 million euros. All five sold before the Geneva stand closed; a roadster quintet followed. The project's logic was institutional — Volkswagen-owned Italdesign demonstrating small-series capability to potential clients while monetising its own legend directly. As a car the Zerouno was Huracán-fast and rarer than reason; as a signal it worked completely, establishing the template of designer-branded micro-series that half the industry's houses subsequently copied.
