Origins
King Long of Xiamen built the Jinwei line from the mid-1990s as its light-bus volume seller: Coaster-class minicoaches for the government fleets, hotels and rural routes that formed Chinese bus demand's deep base. Alongside the company's full-size coaches — which would make King Long one of the world's largest bus builders — the Jinwei's thousands served invisibly everywhere. Export versions spread through Asia and beyond on the standard value calculus. The type documents the Chinese bus industry's foundation years: institutional demand, provincial manufacturing scale, and the accumulation of production competence that the electric-transit era would later monetise globally. Institutional demand writes no reviews, only repeat purchase orders. Three decades of institutional renewals built the manufacturing depth the electric era later monetised worldwide.
