Origins

The LM600 of 1995 was the racing summit of the Mantara line: Chevrolet V8 power in the long-nosed LM bodywork, built to contest international GT racing including returns to Le Mans — the race that gave the series its initials — where Marcos entries ran in 1995 and 1996 against factory McLarens and Porsches. For a tiny Wiltshire firm the programme was heroic and ruinous in the familiar proportions; results included class podiums in national racing and honourable attrition abroad. Road-going LM versions extended the family to customers wanting the racing car's stance with number plates.
