Origins

The NDO of 1938 belonged to Praga's substantial commercial side: a forward-control design placing the driver above the engine to maximise body space — advanced packaging for its date — serving as bus and heavy carrier through the war's chaos and the reconstruction after. Praga's truck engineering, always the combine's backbone, kept NDO-derived vehicles in Czechoslovak service for years while the nationalised industry reorganised around it. Within this catalogue the NDO stands for the marque's true character: Praga built cars with distinction, but its deepest competence moved goods and people in bulk, a role that continued under socialism long after the passenger lines closed. The type is remembered by transport historians as Prague's contribution to the forward-control idea Europe would later standardise.
