Origins

Spyker showed the C12 Zagato at Geneva in 2007 as the extreme end of what its small operation could imagine. The car used a 6.0-litre W12 from the Volkswagen Group, rated at 500 hp, mounted behind the seats and driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or automatic.

Design and engineering

The body was designed by Norihiko Harada at Zagato and carried the carrozzeria's signature double-bubble roof over Spyker's own aviation-inspired detailing, an unusual combination of Milanese and Dutch obsessions. A production run was intended.

In production

One was built. Spyker was a tiny company with a habit of announcing more than it could finance, and the C12 became a show car with a single owner rather than a model line.
