VLF Automotive assembled three reputations — industrialist Gilbert Villarreal, designer Henrik Fisker, ex-GM vice-chairman Bob Lutz — and the Force 1 V10 of 2016 was its statement: a Dodge Viper re-engineered and rebodied in carbon fibre, its 8.4-litre V10 tuned to 745 horsepower, hand-finished in Auburn Hills at a price beyond 250,000 dollars. Fisker's bodywork traded the Viper's menace for long-hood elegance; the mechanicals kept the menace intact. Production was always intended to be tiny and remained so, alongside the Destino — the firm's Corvette-powered reworking of Fisker's own Karma. The Force 1 endures as a period piece of Detroit's gray-market glamour: proven American violence, dressed by a star, sold by legends, built by the dozen.
