The 310 of 2016 tested the market's absolute floor: a supermini launching below 40,000 yuan — international press marvelled at a genuine car priced like an option package — with SGMW's cost discipline delivering unexpected adequacy at the number. A wagon derivative added practicality; sales proved substantial among rural and first-time buyers the industry's premium drift had abandoned. The 310's economics anticipated the question micro-EVs would soon answer differently: how cheap could new-car mobility go? For a moment, Liuzhou's petrol answer held the record. In Baojun's arc it marks peak value-fundamentalism, before the brand's later, only partly successful, reach for youthful sophistication. The record has since fallen to electrons, but the petrol floor was Liuzhou's for years.
