Origins
The XTR2 of 2001 was Westfield leaving the Seven silhouette behind for pure sports-racer form: a full-width, aerodynamically bodied two-seater around the Hayabusa drivetrain, designed for lap time rather than nostalgia — the company's reply to the emerging Radical phenomenon. At around 410 kilograms with 170-plus horsepower and real downforce, it delivered racing-car cornering loads to anyone with a track-day booking, while remaining road-registerable in Britain for the truly committed. It competed in dedicated race series and found a niche among drivers graduating from Sevens toward slicks-and-wings machinery. The XTR2 marks the moment the kit-car industry's frontier moved from the road to the circuit — Westfield following its customers' stopwatches to their logical conclusion.
