Origins
Zacua launched the MX3 in 2017 as Mexico's first domestic electric car brand: a tiny two-seat urban coupé — French Chatenet-derived body, Mexican assembly in Puebla — with modest range and city pace, priced as a statement more than a proposition. The statement was deliberate and doubled: national EV capability, and a production line staffed predominantly by women, which the company made central to its identity in an industry that rarely was. Sales stayed small; symbolism compounded. As Mexico's auto sector — the world's great assembler of others' vehicles — faced the electric transition, Zacua's little coupé posed the pointed question early: whether the country would also own a piece of what comes next.
