Brand History

The Kia Story

Founded in 1944 as a bicycle-parts maker, Kia built Korea's first bicycle, then motorcycles, trucks and cars. Bankrupted in the 1997 Asian crisis, it was rescued by Hyundai and reinvented itself through bold design under Peter Schreyer. Today Kia is one of the world's most improved brands, with the EV6 and EV9 winning global car-of-the-year awards.
