Lennon's Rolls-Royce Phantom V is one of the few cars to have caused a public scandal through its paint. Repainted in psychedelic patterns in 1967, it was seen by some as defacing a national symbol; it now belongs to the Royal British Columbia Museum in Canada. He had passed his driving test only in 1965.
