Harrison was the Beatle who actually followed motor racing. He was twelve when he saw his first Grand Prix, the 1955 British at Aintree, collected photographs of drivers as a boy, and later wrote 'Faster' about Jackie Stewart and Ronnie Peterson. The cars followed the interest — an Aston Martin bought new at the height of Beatlemania, and thirty years on, one of the hundred McLaren F1s.
