Origins
The B50 of 2009 extended Besturn downward into the compact-saloon mainstream: Mazda-derived architecture again underpinning a domestic-badged family car, priced for the government fleets and private buyers filling China's second motorisation wave. It became the brand's volume anchor through the early 2010s, competent and unremarkable by design. The B50's significance is systemic rather than singular — part of the SOE own-brand cohort whose steady sales built domestic industrial confidence while the private manufacturers innovated harder at the edges. When Bestune later relaunched with original design and turbo engines, the B50-era customer base and dealer network were the inheritance that made reinvention viable. Steadiness was the strategy, and for a state group finding its feet, steadiness sufficed.
