Origins
The revived Delage company announced the D12 in 2020 and delivered its first cars mid-decade: a French-built hypercar with a central driving position flanked by a passenger behind, powered by a 7.6-litre V12 hybrid powertrain of around 1,100 horsepower — explicitly honouring the marque's 1920s Grand Prix domination, when Delage's jewel-like racing engines set standards the era never forgot. A run of 38 cars was announced at prices beyond two million euros, with Nürburgring ambitions attached. Whether the venture secures the name's future, the D12's conception is historically literate: not another retro roadster but a racing-first machine, which is what Delage actually was before the coachbuilt glamour — France's engineering aristocracy, reborn shouting.
