01

Origins

The GV60 was the first Genesis designed as an electric car rather than adapted into one. It uses Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP architecture, shared with the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, with a rear motor driving the rear wheels or dual motors for all-wheel drive, through a single-speed reduction gear.

Design and engineering

Jung Myung-jin's body is a compact coupe-roofed SUV, softer and rounder than the rest of the range, which sets it apart in a lineup otherwise defined by hard creases. Inside, the party trick is a crystal sphere that rotates to reveal the drive selector when the car is started; more usefully, the platform's 800-volt electrical system supports very fast charging and lets the car power external equipment.

Genesis also offered facial recognition and fingerprint entry, allowing owners to drive without a key. Built at Ulsan since 2021, it reached North America for the 2023 model year.
