2023 Нi Phi Y

01

Origins

The Y of 2023 was HiPhi's survival play: a smaller, more conventional electric SUV — the signature light-communication and design flourishes retained at digestible prices — intended to convert the brand's fame into the volume its flagships never sought. Early sales showed promise; the company's finances had already passed the point promise could service. Operations suspended in early 2024, restructuring attempts followed, and the Y's production life was cut short with the marque's collapse among the shakeout's most mourned casualties. It stands as the classic third-act product of a doomed innovator — the sensible car that needed to exist two years earlier, from a company constitutionally incapable of building sensible first. The mourning was genuine; in a market this cynical, that itself was an achievement.
