Origins

JAC's Yueyue of 2010 entered the A-segment at China's motorisation flood tide: a cheerful city car priced for the multitude buying their first car ever, competing against Chery's QQ dynasty and every rival's entry product. Anhui's state-backed JAC — truck-rooted, methodically diversifying — used it to establish passenger-car presence in the smallest metal. Export versions reached South America under the brand's expanding footprint. The Yueyue's modest specification served its exact historical moment: the final years when China's entry point meant sub-compact petrol simplicity, before micro-EVs redefined cheap mobility entirely. Millions of such cars taught China to drive; the statistics absorbed them namelessly. Its buyers' next cars were better; that was, in a sense, the Yueyue's whole assignment.
