01

Origins

China's domestic tourism and camping boom in the early 2020s created demand for vehicles that looked capable, and Jetour built a sub-line around it. The T2, sold in some markets as the Traveller, is the model that defines it: an upright mid-size SUV with a squared-off body, an exposed rear-mounted spare wheel and a side-hinged tailgate, developed under design lead Hakan Saracoğlu.

Design and engineering

Underneath it is less traditional than it looks — a monocoque with transverse engines, front-wheel drive as standard and an on-demand four-wheel-drive system on higher versions, plus a plug-in hybrid using a dedicated hybrid transmission. That combination gives it far better on-road manners and efficiency than the ladder-frame vehicles it visually references.

It has become one of Jetour's most successful exports, assembled in Indonesia and Malaysia and sold widely in the Middle East, where the styling and the equipment levels have found a ready audience.
