Origins

The VN5 of 2020 stretched LEVC's taxi architecture into light commerce: the TX's range-extended electric drivetrain and aluminium structure carrying a van body, pitched at urban delivery fleets facing clean-air zones with range anxiety — the petrol generator answering exactly the objection that stalled pure-electric van adoption. Coventry production shared the taxi's line; capability targeted the one-tonne class. Fleet uptake grew steadily rather than explosively as the commercial EV market's economics matured. The VN5's logic was diversification survival — a single-product taxi maker broadening before ride-hailing eroded its base — and it positioned LEVC for the Geely-era pivot toward flexible electric architectures that followed. The cab learned to carry parcels; the company learned to carry itself.
