Origins
Yulon, Taiwan's veteran assembler of others' designs, launched its own marque in 2009 with the Luxgen7 MPV — later M7 — a large people-mover whose pitch was electronics: cameras everywhere, night vision, a vast screen, HTC-partnered connectivity years before the industry's software obsession. Powered by a domestically developed turbo four, it targeted Taiwanese families and mainland Chinese expansion through a Dongfeng joint venture. The M7's specification-first strategy defined Luxgen's identity — technology as national calling card — and the model served long as the range's practical anchor. Taiwan's only indigenous car brand thus began, characteristically for the island, with more computing than its rivals and a battle for scale it would fight ever after.
