The U5 of 2017 applied Luxgen's electronics-first identity to the subcompact crossover boom: a 12-inch portrait touchscreen dominated the cabin, a 360-degree camera system exceeded class norms, and an optional 'AR View' transparency display showcased the HTC-era software ambitions that distinguished Taiwan's brand. The 1.6-litre crossover sold on that differentiation at home while facing the marque's persistent scale problem abroad. As the last new combustion Luxgen before the Foxconn-partnered electric reinvention, the U5 represents the strategy's final refinement — gadget density as national industrial signature — and its screens, radical for 2017, read today as an early sketch of the interface-first cars the whole industry subsequently built. What looked like gadget excess in 2017 became the industry's default dashboard within five years.
