Origins

The Galue, launched in 1996 on Nissan Crew and later Cedric and Fuga platforms, was Mitsuoka's executive statement: imposing vertical grille, round quad lamps and formal flanks evoking pre-war British grandeur over thoroughly modern Japanese saloon mechanicals. Wedding fleets, hotels and proprietors of a certain flamboyance adopted it; successive generations kept the formula through the 2010s, latterly with convertible and even hearse derivatives. As with all Mitsuokas the joke contained its own defence — the car was honestly what it appeared, handcrafted costume on dependable bones, priced far below the aristocrats it saluted. The Galue completed the company's range logic: Viewt for the boulevard, Le-Seyde for Gatsby, Galue for the boardroom of the imagination.
