Origins

The Plus Six made Morgan modern without making it look modern. Announced in 2019, it introduced the CX-Generation bonded aluminium platform, stiffer and lighter than the Aero 8 structure it developed from, and paired it with BMW's B58 turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six and the ZF eight-speed automatic that comes with it.

Design and engineering

The result was the fastest series-production Morgan yet built and, more to the point, the best behaved. The old cars' habit of reacting sharply to mid-corner bumps was largely engineered out, while the ash-framed body, the exposed hinges and the general shape stayed roughly where they had been for eighty years.

In production

It replaced the Plus 8 and sat above the four-cylinder Plus Four on the same platform. Production ran to 2025, when the Supersport took over with a redesigned body over much the same mechanical package. For a company of Morgan's size, having one modern chassis it can build several models from is the difference between surviving and not.
