Origins
The C7 of 2025 extended Omoda's global range upward: a larger crossover led by the group's Super Hybrid plug-in technology, pairing extended electric range with combustion security for markets where charging infrastructure lagged EV enthusiasm. European and Asia-Pacific launches followed the C5's distribution pathways with premium-value positioning intact. The C7 embodied Chery's export thesis maturing — technology flagships, not just value entries, shipped worldwide at speed. For the industry it signalled the pattern hardening: Chinese brands iterating globally on annual cadence, hybrid technology as the bridgehead into markets still hesitant about pure electric, and the container ship as the era's real showroom. The bridge strategy is working; the bridge, notably, only runs one direction.
