Polestar Polestar 4

01

Origins

The Polestar 4 arrived in November 2023 with a design decision nobody else had been willing to make in a production car: it has no rear window. The roofline extends back over the rear passengers, and the interior mirror is replaced by a screen fed from a roof-mounted camera. The stated benefit is rear headroom and a more enclosed cabin; the practical consequence is that reversing and glancing over your shoulder now depend entirely on electronics.

02

Design and engineering

Otherwise it is a compact luxury coupe SUV, offered with a single rear motor or dual motors and all-wheel drive, with exterior design credited to Su-bum Lee. It sits below the 3 in size and, awkwardly for the brand's numbering, above it in some specifications.

In production

Production began at Ningbo in China, with additional assembly from the second half of 2025 at Busan in South Korea alongside Renault Korea, a move made to reduce exposure to tariffs on Chinese-built cars in Europe and North America.
