Origins
Rover's first genuinely new post-war car appeared in 1949 with a full-width body inspired by American Studebaker practice, which looked startling on a British saloon of the period. The most conspicuous feature was the single central foglamp set in the grille, which earned the early 75 the nickname Cyclops and lasted only until 1952.
