Origins

UD Trucks' Condor, launched in 1975, became Japan's definitive medium-duty hauler alongside its Fuso and Hino rivals: the Nissan Diesel workhorse of distribution fleets, dump work and municipal duty through five decades of generations. Its virtues were the segment's — durability, serviceability, driver acceptance — delivered with the two-stroke-turned-four-stroke engineering heritage of the UD name. Export and licence versions spread through Asia and beyond; Volvo and later Isuzu stewardship carried the badge onward.
