Origins

By 2011 ZAZ's partner had changed again, and the Chery Fulwin 2 — assembled at Zaporizhzhia and sold as the ZAZ Forza — marked Chinese platforms replacing Korean ones on the old plant's lines. The compact saloon and hatchback offered air conditioning and modern equipment at prices the Lanos generation had established as Ukraine's ceiling, and for a few years the Forza sold solidly as the country's cheapest fresh design. Like every ZAZ arrangement since independence, it was pragmatism over pride: the plant's value lay in its ability to build anyone's car for the local market's means. War and economics have since idled the lines, but the Forza episode completes a neat arc — a factory that began with Moscow's blessing, survived on Seoul's designs, and closed the circle assembling Wuhu's.
