Brand History
The Bajaj Auto Story
Bajaj Auto was founded in 1945 as part of the Bajaj Group established by Indian industrialist Jamnalal Bajaj, initially importing and selling two- and three-wheelers. It began manufacturing under licence from Piaggio in the 1960s, and its Chetak scooter became an icon of Indian motoring with years-long waiting lists. From the 1990s Bajaj reinvented itself as a motorcycle maker, with the Pulsar line driving its rise into one of the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturers.

Bajaj Auto is among the world's largest motorcycle producers, building the Pulsar, Boxer and Chetak electric scooter, holding a large stake in KTM's parent Pierer Mobility, and manufacturing small-capacity Triumph and KTM motorcycles under partnership agreements.
