Origins
The Suburban began in 1935 as the Carryall Suburban: a steel wagon body fitted to a half-ton commercial chassis, built to move eight people or a substantial load, and sold to fleets, the military, contractors and rural families. Nothing about it was aimed at private buyers looking for comfort. It was a truck with windows and seats, and it is the oldest continuously used automotive nameplate anywhere.
